SOFTBALL

The Learn to Play program is designed for boys and girls aged 5-7 years old. Softball programs for girls are offered for ages 8 to 19 years. Local community clubs coordinate the registration of players and the central WSWYSA (Winnipeg South West Youth Softball Association) organizes the league, games, umpires and playoffs.

The softball season begins in March and April (depending on weather or availability of inside facilities) with the regular season games taking place during May and June.  Participants will have two games per week with most teams holding additional practices during the week.

League/Division playoffs typically are held in late June. For those teams that qualify, provincial playoffs commence in early July.

for any questions regarding softball registration please email - reneedanchuk4@gmail.com

Please note that we have no convenor here at Corydon CC, so you will be transfered out to the WSWYSA area.  If there are enough Corydon players in a certain age group there is a possibility to have a Corydon hosted team.

Please visit the Softball Manitoba or WSWYSA website for more information.

Required Equipment:
All players must have a proper catching glove, helmet, and running shoes/cleats.  Uniform and other equipment will be supplied by the club.

Umpires:
Umpiring softball can be an enjoyable and financially rewarding job for young boys and girls in the Community.   Umpires are paid $35-40 per game and may work several games per week. If you are interested , go to www.softball.mb.ca for further information.

Coaches:
Please consider volunteering as a coach/assistant or manager when registering your child (no experience necessary). Are you interested in coaching - but don't know where to start? Or what's involved? Please contact any of the league executive or Community Club Conveners for information. Coaching is fun, and rewarding endeavor - and really doesn't take that much work! But the easiest way to get into it is to start thinking and talking about it NOW! There are resources available to mentor you into the game!
