Hockey Player and Coach Development Program
The CCC is proud to announce its Hockey Player and Coach Development Program.
This program is based on a model where the CCC is utilizing our knowledgeable coaches from our community as well as some key partnerships in order to bring quality, affordable skill development programs to our athletes and mentorship and support to our volunteer coaches.
The initial phase of this initiative is to offer three different hockey skill development programs for the 2019-2020 hockey season. We anticipate creating the same type of program for other sports operated by CCC.
The key instructors for this program are as follows:
- Jason Harvey – Jason played four years in the MMJHL and has coached at all levels over a 25 year period, ranging from elite to beginner and adults to three year olds. He currently coaches his 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son in the APHA.
- Chris Hopiavuori – Chris played for Owen Sound in the OHL and then combined his education and passion for hockey by playing five years for the University of Waterloo. Chris is a big believer in giving back to his community and currently coaches in the CCC’s Timbits Program.
- Kirk Feasey – Kirk also combined athletics and hockey by playing for our own University of Manitoba Bisons. He also coaches in the CCC Timbits Program and enjoys teaching the hockey fundamentals to players of all ages.
- Jeff Wood – The CCC is thrilled to announce its partnership with Jeff Wood. Jeff has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and Physiologist and currently works as a Sport Performance Specialist at the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre. He also owns and operates the Athletes Academy where Jeff and his staff strive to teach athletes from all sports to reach their full potential. Jeff has coached for over 20 years and has worked with such well-known athletes as Jonathan Toews, Travis Zajac, Bailey Bram, Team Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team and the Manitoba Moose.
The CCC will be offering the following hockey programs during the 2019-2020 Hockey Season:
Fundamental Hockey Skill Development
This program will teach players the correct fundamentals of skating, passing, shooting, puck protection and situational game awareness, in a fun, up-tempo environment. This is not a learn to skate program. We expect participants to be able to skate and have a grasp of the basic skills of hockey. The CCC reserves the right to move participants into a group they belong in, or offer to transfer them to appropriate other programs offered by CCC.
Two sessions will be offered:

Time: 6:00pm at River Heights Arena
Dates: The first skate will be on October 21, 2019 and will end on February 24, 2020 (there will be no skates on December 23 or 30, 2019)
